Award Q and A

Q. Can the SRCA Committee take responsibility for unique articles, like works of art?
A. No. These must be represented by photographs or recordings.

Q. I only took 12 credits this semester, can I still be eligible?
A. Yes. Undergraduate applicants need 18 credits for the whole academic year, so if you take 6 in the fall and 12 in the spring, you can still qualify. Graduate students need a minimum of 9 credits to qualify.

Q. Do I have to take the page limit seriously?
A. Yes. If you exceed the limit by a single word, your application will be disqualified.

Q. Does my bibliography count toward my page limit.
A. No.

Q. Do my charts, tables, and illustrations count toward my page limit?
A. Yes.

Q. Can I beat the page limit by writing small and using no margins?
A. No. If the font size, spacing, or margins do not follow established SRCA competition guidelines, your application will be disqualified.

Q. At what level should I pitch my project?
A. At a general level. You need to make yourself understood by the SRCA committee, and not a hypothetical panel of experts.

Q. If I mail my material, will it be accepted if the postmark is before the deadline?
A. No. Your application must be electronically submitted to the following designated e-mail address: srca2012@wcupa.edu - no later than 5:00 PM on February 24, 2012. Documents sent via snail mail (campus or post office) will not be accepted.

Q. If I work with another student, can I win $500?
A. No. Each approved project can win $500, not each applicant.

Q. How can I submit my project online?
A. Send your completed document as attachment(s) to srca2012@wcupa.edu. If you cannot send your completed Cover Page with your document on-line, please bring it to the Office of Sponsored Research, Filano Hall, Room 205, no later than 5:00 PM on Feb. 24th, 2012.

Q: How should I submit the cover page with signatures if I go through the online submission?
A: Scan the Cover Page and send as an attachment to srca2012@wcupa.edu.

Q: If I was a recipient of past SRCA Award, can I apply again?
A: Yes. The project must be a new initiative.
