The Energy Project Manager will manage all energy related projects along with some sustainability related projects, identify new energy savings and sustainability technologies, implement new projects which will reduce energy and resource usage, manage campus mechanical and/or electrical projects, continually monitor energy usage and the Facilities Department sustainability efforts; identify areas of high energy usage and its cause, malfunctioning equipment and ensure corrective action is taken; evaluate the energy efficiency of proposed construction, building expansions and/or renovations; set performance standards, develop and write guidelines, procedures and specifications for projects; assist Plant Operations in identifying problems with mechanical, HVAC, and utility systems; management of Campus Energy Management and Control Systems to ensure that they are kept in peak operating condition; manage West Chester University of Pennsylvania’s multi-million dollar utility budget; ensure energy is purchased and billed at the lowest rate; serve as technical consultant on new energy technology and an active member of the University’s Climate Action Planning Team; actively promote energy conservation measures; maintain historical records and train personnel in energy and resource savings.
A Bachelor Degree in engineering or physical science with a preference for engineering. Additionally, the candidate must have a minimum of five years of work experience in project management, facilities management, HVAC and/or utility systems, with a focus on energy conservation and sustainability. The successful candidate must also have managed multi-million dollar projects, possess working knowledge of building and safety codes; federal, state and local laws and regulations; understand OSHA and the ability to apply these regulations in various occupational/educational settings as required.
