Join a vibrant campus community whose excellence is reflected in its diversity and student success. West Chester University of Pennsylvania's Division of Student Affairs seeks applicants for the position of Associate Director of Multicultural Affairs.

Reporting to the Assistant Vice President for Student Affairs, the Associate Director works under the general direction of the Director of Multicultural Affairs to develop and facilitate programs and services for multicultural students to assist University efforts focused on awareness of and appreciation for racial and cultural diversity, campus climate, retention/academic success, and advocacy. Serves as coordinator for the Mentoring Program for approximately 150 new first-year multicultural students and faculty/staff/peer mentors; selects, trains, and supervises the peer mentor staff of 12 undergraduate students; recruits mentors/mentees; plans mentee programs, and evaluates student learning outcomes and the effectiveness of the program; assists with academic monitoring of multicultural students and following up with students in academic difficulty. Other responsibilities include the development of programs/initiatives focused on student success related to academic support and student services, awards/recognitions, pre-semester orientation, student leadership, and educational, social, and cultural programs. Advises multicultural student organizations and assists with the coordination of the Multicultural Center facility located in the student union building.

Requirements: Masters Degree in College Student Personnel Services, Higher Education Counseling or related field with a minimum of 2-3 years of professional student affairs or related experience. Additional qualifications will include an established record of experience in working with multicultural students, retention and academic success programs, first-year student programs, advising student groups, social/educational/cultural program coordination, supervision of student staff, and assessment. Demonstrated commitment to diversity and the tenets outlined in the WCU Values Statement, excellent communication, interpersonal, and public relation skills, and the ability and disposition to interact favorably and collaboratively with diverse groups of students, faculty, staff, parents, alumni, and other external publics.

Starting salary is $41,917. Excellent benefits package including undergraduate tuition fee waiver for self and dependents. Applicants must successfully complete interview process to be considered as a finalist. Anticipated start date for this position is January 4, 2009. The filling of this position is contingent upon available funding.
