  • B.S., Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece
  • M.Sc., Ph.D., National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, Greece
  • Post-Doctoral: University of Athens, GA, USA

Courses Taught:

  • Toxicology lecture/lab, Chemistry and Law, Forensic Chemistry I, General Chemistry
  • Research Interests: Bioanalysis of drugs for the investigation of forensic and doping control cases.

Research Summary:

My research aims to assist the forensic toxicology labs through the development of fast, and efficient analytical methods for detecting emerging drugs in toxicological samples, facilitating thus the investigation of toxicological cases. We optimize separation and sample preparation methods using traditional and improved techniques and validate the methods for qualitative and quantitative determinations. We also conduct stability and quality control studies according to the ISO/IEC 17025. For our results we are using ELISA, liquid chromatography tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS) and HS-GC-FID. This instrumentation is also used to conduct studies involving performance enhancement drugs. We are interested in collaborating with other research groups that might be addressing research questions in toxicological analysis, quality assurance and control.
