The primary responsibility of the Office of Event Management (EM) is the preparation and management of the Academic Facility Master Schedule. This function is an ongoing process throughout the year as one schedule is executed while others are being developed. Event Management works with academic departments to determine realistic needs for instructional space and with the Department of Facilities Planning and Construction to determine what spaces will be affected by renovation schedules.
The Associate Registrar meets regularly with the academic departments to determine each department's specific instructional needs. The academic deans are also provided with information on general purpose classrooms and asked to promote cooperation between departments and act as a mediator at the college level.
Academic department representatives (usually the chairperson or assistant chairperson) build their department's master schedule directly into PeopleSoft. During Deans' access, Event Management reviews the master schedule to resolve conflicts and to assign all classrooms according to departmental allocations.
