Sunday, December 14, 2014 | Hollinger Fieldhouse


A Commencement rehearsal for all graduates will be held on Friday, Dec 12, 2014 at 11:00 am, in Hollinger Field House.

Immediately following commencement rehearsal, students can go to Ehinger Gymnasium for a FREE brunch, sponsored by the WCU Alumni Association (WCUAA).

The brunch is being held to congratulate graduates and to welcome them to the WCUAA. It will include an assortment of food, prizes, an opportunity to network with alumni, information on how to get discounted health, auto, and renters insurance, a special appearance by Rammy, and much more.

Faculty participation in rehearsal is optional.

Caps, Gowns, and Announcements

Ordering your Cap & Gown

  • You may submit your cap/gown order beginning Monday, October 6, 2014 at Oak Hall Cap and Gown:
  • The deadline to submit your cap/gown order on is Friday, November 14, 2014.
  • The deadline to submit your cap and gown order to ship to the WCU Bookstore is Wednesday, November 5th, 2014. There is no additional charge for this service.
  • The deadline to submit your cap and gown order to ship to your home is Friday, November 14, 2014. There is an additional fee for this service, which must be paid by credit card when you order.

Picking up your Cap & Gown

  • Caps/Gowns ordered through may be picked up at the SSI Bookstore, lower level Sykes Student Union, beginning Monday, Dec 1, 2014, Monday through Thursday, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Fridays, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Friday, Dec 12, 2:00 P.M is the last day to pick up your cap/gown.
  • If you missed the opportunity to order your Cap/Gown via, then you must pick up a Cap/Gown at the SSI Bookstore during the dates/times listed above.


  • Announcements will be available to all graduation applicants. Each graduate is entitled to ten (10) standard announcements and you can pick them up with your cap and gown at the Bookstore.

During the ceremony, diploma covers only will be distributed. The Registrar will mail diplomas to all graduates who have completed the requirements for their degrees. They will be mailed from the Registrar's Office following posting of final semester grades and verification of graduation requirements. Please allow 60 days.

If there are any outstanding issues that will prevent you from graduating, the Registrar's Office will notify you by mail.

Honor Cords

Honors cords may be purchased in the bookstore by all undergraduate students earning graduation honors (3.25 CUM GPA or higher, based on the last graded semester before graduation). The charge for the cord is $6.

A list of those students who have earned University academic honors has been provided to the bookstore. Students on the list will be entitled to purchase an honors cord. You will need to present a picture ID card when purchasing your honors cord. Students may pick up an honors cord for another student on the list with written permission and an ID card from that student.

Senior Portraits

  • Senior portraits are taken by Herff Jones at the Sykes Student Union. Call 1-800-687-9327 to schedule an appointment.
  • Legacy Photographers are at the commencement ceremony. Call 1-800-447-2550 for more information.
