Overview
The President's Advisory Council on Alcohol,Tobacco and
Other Drug Issues, (PAC) is composed of students, faculty, staff, local law
enforcement personnel and West Chester Borough residents. This
Council provides direction and support for activities designed to
address student alcohol and drug use, and its consequences on the
campus and in the local community.
The principal target audience is on and off-campus students.
However, many of the activities, programs, and interventions are
designed to engage faculty, staff, and citizens in the borough who can
have influence on the knowledge, attitudes, and behavior of students.
Mission Statement
1. Offer suggestions to address
alcohol, tobacco and other drug issues (ATOD) and related violence
issues to the ATOD coordinator, the Assistant Dean of Students, the
Vice President for Student Affairs and others as appropriate.
2. Understand through periodic
updates, the functions, programs, and strategies of the ATOD workgroup
and make recommendations for best practices.
3. Offer technical advice,
research-based knowledge and support to the ATOD workgroup and
coordinator.
4. Listen to the concerns of
various University and community stakeholders and offer suggestions,
based on that feedback, to the ATOD workgroup and coordinator. A
special emphasis will be made to hear the student voice.
Structure
The PAC directors are
Donald Barr, Dean of the College of Health
Sciences, and
Jackie Hodes, Assistant to the Vice
President for Student Affairs. They report directly to the Vice
President of Student Affairs and the President of the University.
