Scholarship Recipients

Matthew T. Bigos is a Junior majoring in Biology from West Lawn, Pennsylvania. His career goal is to become a physician. In his pursuit of a career in the sciences he has been a member, and more recently, the vice president of the Darlington Biological Society and a member of the Pre-Med Club. In addition, Mr. Biogas has provided health care during the summer camping program at the Hawk Mountain Boy Scout Camp, worked as a Red Cross Blood Drive volunteer, and a community Medical Volunteer at the Chester County Medical Clinic. Matthew is on the West Chester University Dean's List, and a recipient of the WCU Presidential Scholarship. He has received acceptance in the Early Assurance Program at Drexel Medical College for the Fall 2009 academic term.

Beth Jo Schuelkens is a senior in Biology at West Chester University from Lutitz, Pennsylvania. Her career path is designed to lead her to graduate school for a masters and doctorate in Biology with the ultimate goal of perusing a career in research and teaching. A transfer form Juniata College where she took most of her undergraduate science courses, she has excelled in her academic work at West Chester University with a science GPA of 4.0. In conjunction with WCU faculty, Ms. Schelkens has conducted morphology, toxicological, and genetic research on a variety of aquatic and terrestrial species.
