Scholarship Recipients |
Ryan Marciniszyn is a full time student at West Chester University majoring in Mathematics and Computer Science. He is seeking a Bachelors of Science in Education and is currently a Sophomore. Previously this graduate of Downingtown High School has received a Verizion Scholarship and a 3 year NETS scholarship. In June 2004 he also received an Award of Excellence from the Technology Department at WCU. Mr. Marciniszyn’s outside interests are wrestling (where was on the varsity team in High School) and soccer, for which he is an assistant coach for Youth Soccer. We are pleased to provide this full time WCU student a scholarship to assist him in attaining his goal as a high school mathematics teacher. Brianne Strong is a major in microbiology, a graduate of Bishop O’Hara High School and in her last year of studies at West Chester University. Ms Strong is currently working and gaining experience working for Cedar Grove Environmental Inc. conducting analysis in this DEP/EPA certified laboratory. She has been on the WCU Deans List, received the Collegiate All American Scholar Award, selected by the Biology Department Chairman for academic excellence and is a research assistant in the Department of Biology at West Chester University. Her other activities include being a tutor in Fine Arts in Music and assisting students, on a one-to-one basis in the WCU Learning Assistance and Resource Center. The ultimate career goal for Ms. Strong is to obtain a permanent position within the pharmaceutical industry working on preventative techniques and vaccines. Regan Wagner, a full time Senior at West Chester is a major in the analysis tract of Geography and Planning with a minor in Spanish. Ms. Wagner, also a graduate of Downingtown High School is the president of the WCU Geography Club, a previous winner of a scholarship to attend the Middle States Association of American Geographers meeting, and a member of the Dean’s List for five consecutive semesters. Ms. Wagner is preparing herself in the field of Geographic Information Systems for a career in either business location analysis for a company in Mexico or for using the power of GIS for the analysis of crime statistics for domestic police departments. Certification in the growing field of geographic information analysis is also an immediate career goal. We are proud to offer the NASA - Pennsylvania Space Grant Consortium scholarships to these three scholars and wish them the best in their careers and studies.
