Scholarship Recipients

These three scholarship awardees for the 2004-2005 academic year are:

Meira Elliot is a physics major (with mathematics and astronomy minors) from Ardmore Pennsylvania. Ms. Elliot’s ultimate career goal is to be a researcher for NASA or a major research University and is currently working with one of West Chester University’s professors on the analysis of X-ray bright stars in the Orion Nebula and the development of models, and their interpretation. She also tutors students in physics, mathematics Hebrew and music.
Ms. Elliot is an undergraduate expecting to graduate in the spring of 2007. From there she aspires to attend graduate school in astrophysics.

Meghan Kelley graduated from Unionville High School, Unionville, PA and is a West Chester University junior with a major in Secondary Mathematics Education. Ms. Kelley is very active in university affairs, being a member of the West Chester University CETP (Collaborative for Excellence in Teacher Preparation), a member of Phi Mu Epsilon, the Mathematics Honour Society, a mathematics department tutor and a recipient of the College of Arts and Sciences Student Research Award. For the past two years, she has presented papers at the annual summer CETP conference and has received awards from that group for her work. Her career goal is to teach secondary mathematics in the public school system of Pennsylvania.

Reagan Wagner is a Geography student coming to West Chester University from Downingtown High School, Downingtown, PA. She is also a junior, whose focus is on Geographic Information Systems. Ms. Wagner is an active member of the West Chester University Geography Club and the recipient of a Paciaroni Scholarship from the Middle States Geography Association. When she graduates from West Chester University, in the spring of 2006, her goal is to attend graduate school and ultimately to obtain a managerial position in GIS application setting up an overseas operation in this growing field is a career objective she hopes to attain.

The Pennsylvania Space Grant Consortium, and West Chester University are pleased to assist these three students in furthering their professional endeavors and career development and progress.
