Representatives from several countries and officials from Pennsylvania's economic development offices are meeting at West Chester University to discuss opportunities for global economic development in the Commonwealth.
"PA Learning and Growing Global Strategic Partnerships and Business Development for Small and Medium-Size Businesses" will take place Monday, Nov. 25, at West Chester's Graduate Business Center from 1 to 3 p.m. There are plans to conduct a videoconference with several of the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education universities and with the state's Global Trade Office.
Attendees will gain an understanding of what local government offers to support global business development and learn about current and future trends. Owners of small and medium-size businesses in Pennsylvania can learn how to enter or enhance their presence in the global marketplace. Business school educators and students can network with Consuls General as well as the Commonwealth's economic development experts regarding international students, exchanges and courses.
Among the presenters are the following:
Consul General of Italy Andrea Canepari will speak on "The Importance of the USA Europe Atlantic Free Trade Agreement" and the importance of relationships between U.S. and Italian universities for better global understanding.
Consul General of Mexico Carlos I. Giralt-Cabrales will present "The Importance of Trade and Investment Opportunities between PA and Mexico" and the importance of exchanges between universities in Mexico and PA.
Wilfred H. Muskens, PA Deputy Secretary International Business and Economic Development, will discuss "Opportunities for PA Business in the Global Marketplace" and the importance of PA universities forming relationships around world.
Borough of West Chester Mayor Carolyn T. Comitta will address "The Importance for Area Business Understanding Global Opportunities and Local Leaders' Efforts to Help."
David Briel, Executive Director of the Center for Direct Investment PA's Office of International Business Development, will describe the "Opportunities in PA for International Investors."
Natalia Dominguez Buckley, International Economic Development, PA Department of Community & Economic Development SE Office of Administration, will provide information on "Area Opportunities for Global Business and PA Efforts to Support and Develop Global Opportunities for the Commonwealth."
Lindsay Michael, International Initiatives Manager at Team Pennsylvania Foundation, will explain her role in providing high-level networking opportunities between the public and private sectors.
