Team president and senior Sara Franklin captured the first place award in Persuasive Speaking, an accomplishment that gives her the honor of attending the 2011 Interstate Oratorical Association Championship as a Pennsylvania representative.
Other individual awards included:
Sara Franklin: Program Oral Interpretation, 1st place; Dramatic Interpretation, 2nd place; Rhetorical Criticism, 3rd place; Impromptu, 3rd place; Extemporaneous Speaking, 4th place; Pentathlon, 3rd place.
Lanie Presswood: Rhetorical Criticism, 2nd place; Program Oral Interpretation, 3rd place; Informative Speaking, 3rd place; Dramatic Duo with Dan Hinderliter, 3rd place.
Dan Hinderliter: After Dinner Speaking, 4th place; Persuasion, 4th place; Prose Interpretation, 5th place; Dramatic Duo, 3rd place; Pentathlon, 6th place.
Daquann Chung: Poetry Interpretation, 2nd place; Dramatic Interpretation, 5th place.
Jake Markiewicz: After Dinner Speaking, 6th place; Prose Interpretation, 6th place.
Ashley Murphy: Program Oral Interpretation, 4th place.
Joe Tetreault: After Dinner Speaking, 5th place.
The team and coach Mark Hickman are now looking forward to tackling the American Forensic Association District 7 national qualifying tournament in Frederick, Md., in March before setting their sights on the Pi Kappa Delta national tournament in Portland, Ore.
