Following the death of George Morris Philips in 1920 money was donated by students, alumni, and friends to the Philips Memorial Committee to provide a suitable memorial for Dr. Philips. The Philips Memorial Building was begun in 1926 and opened in 1927. The photographs show:

  1. The demolition of Green Gables and the excavation of the cellar area of the Philips Memorial Building - Library Wing
