Author Search
- An author search looks at the author of any item included in the catalog.
- The notion of an author is here extended to include all those responsible
for the creation of an item, including compilers, editors, illustrators,
performers, directors, etc., as well as authors. Author searches will retrieve
people and corporate bodies (organizations, institutions, etc.)
- You can perform an author search on both the
Search Tab and the
Guided Search Tab
- You do not have to capitalize any words in an author's name.
- Type in an author's name just as you would look it up in a telephone directory.
Enter the last (family) name first, then first name, then any titles. For example,
- To search for Virginia Woolf, enter woolf virginia
- To search for Saint Sir Thomas More, enter more thomas.
If you want to use his titles enter more thomas saint sir
- Enter as much of the author's name as you know.
- Do not use "A", "An", or "The"
(or definite articles in any language) at the beginning of an author's name. For
example,
- To search for The Ford Motor Company, enter
ford motor company
