Basic network
access is provided by the Windows Domain servers. These servers provide user authentication when logging onto Windows based clients. They
also maintain security "tokens" which are used by network applications such as web
servers, email, and PeopleSoft applications.
The NOC is in a locked room with a security badge access system. Only authorized people have access to the room. This system keeps track of who has entered the computer room at specific dates and times.
Our campus network is protected by a firewall/network shaper. This product protects us from some types of network attacks. It also helps shape the network traffic to provide the most efficient connection speed for required network activity.
If you believe your computer has been violated by an unknown person, or you start to receive email messages for some unknown reason, you may be a victim. Please contact the Help Desk at x3350 as soon as possible. Please fill out the reporting form. You can also send email to abuse@wcupa.edu.
Some email problems and messages could be related to virus infections on your computer. Take a look at the Virus Information Center for additional information.
