Many web pages require a PDF reader helper application with your browser. Download this if you are told that you don't have a PDF reader.

Adobe Shockwave Player 11.6.1.629
This package was required in order to view multimedia pages. Many, if not most video is sent in a format playable by the Shockwave Player. Aside from SWF files, streaming audio is sent as FLV files, which is also a Flash format.

Avast Anti-Virus
Avast is another anti-virus that we use here at ResNet. While it is free of charge, it does require you to register your email address for a permanent license and it also requires that you install an anti-spyware program such as Defender or Ad-Aware.

AVG Anti-Virus Free Edition 2012
AVG is actually both an anti-virus and anti-spyware package. It is the package that we usually use at ResNet. Before installing AVG, make sure you do not have any other anti-virus software installed.

Chrome Web Browser
Chrome is Google's popular browser.

Java Runtime Environment V. 6 Update 29
A number of programs require the Java Runtime Environment to work. Download this if you get a message telling you that you need to update your Java Runtime Environment (JRE).

Lavasoft Ad-Aware
This another anti-spyware program that monitors what tracking components are being installed on your machine. This is only good for spyware and is not an anti-virus program which you would need to install in addition to this.

Microsoft Internet Explorer 9.0
The popular Microsoft browser.

Microsoft Security Essentials
This software watches and tracks spyware that is installed on your machine when you visit sites and download items such as music, toolbars and such.

Mozilla Firefox 7.0.1 and Thunderbird Mail
This is another popular browser and is often used when Internet Explorer has trouble when a particular page, such as the myWCU web page. It is a Mozilla based browser and has its own email client.

Open Office 3.3.0
Open Office is a full office suite of applications that create Office compatible documents. It has a Word compatible document editor, a Powerpoint compatible presentation component, an Excel compatible spreadsheet as well as other components. It is written in Java by Sun Microsystems and is available at no charge. Note: In order to use this suite you must have the Java Runtime Environment installed, which is also available for download from this Software Download screen.

Safari for Windows 5.1.1
Safari was at first a browser for Apple Macs and then was ported to run on Windows.

Sophos Antivirus
Sophos is a good anti-virus program however, do not install it on any machine that logs into the student network system because it can cause problems with the policy key. And never install more than one anti-virus program on a single machine.

Spybot Search & Destroy
This will scan and clean viruses and spyware from your machine. Since this is more anti-spyware than anti-virus, you can run this with an anti-virus program.
