D2L System Upgrade

PASSHE performed a system wide D2L upgrade from version 9.4.0 to 9.41. Desire2Learn 9.4.1 is a minor upgrade that will bring performance improvements and small enhancements to existing Desire2Learn tools. Click here to see a list of the improvements and enhancements 9.4.1 has to offer.

D2L Instructional Video of the Week

Recently the D2L Services team has introduced a video series called: D2L Instructional Video of the Week. This video series aims to inform Faculty of less commonly used tools available in D2L and to refresh Faculty on how to use tools they may have forgotten how to use. The videos are short (under 5 minutes) and to the point, focusing on one particular tool or function available in D2L. The videos are available in D2L on the My Home page, and are also available by clicking on the links below:

Registering on the D2L Community Website

What is the D2L Community?

The Desire2Learn Community is designed to promote collaboration among all Desire2Learn clients who wish to share online strategies, best practices and showcase some of the best ways organizations are utilizing the Desire2Learn Learning Environment. The Desire2Learn Community provides clients with the exciting opportunity to participate in engaging discussions. The site will also provide users with just-in-time training tips, quick refreshers on how to effectively use tools, additional resources and learning aids.

Steps to Register:

• Go to https://community.desire2learn.com
• Click on the Enrollment link located on the top right of the screen
• Fill out the appropriate information and click Submit

Note: When filling out Organization Name make sure to put ‘West Chester University of Pennsylvania’.

Internet Browsers

As we progress through the Fall Term, please be aware that D2L Services recommends the download and use of Mozilla Firefox when working in the D2L environment (http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/new/?WT.mc_id=ba3613&WT.mc_ev=click).

There are known issues with using Internet Explorer when logged into D2L:

• Internet Explorer v9 browser is not fully compatible with current releases of the D2L Environment.
• Courses listed under "My Courses" may not appear
• Some buttons, such as the email button, may not work
• The HTML editor, (composition field of discussions and emails) may have formatting issues

If you are limited to using Internet Explorer:

• From within Internet Explorer, click the ’Compatibility View’ button which is found in the IE address bar.
