WAYS TO SAVE YOUR DEPARTMENT MONEY

  1. Make all of your long distance calls on Panet (8-line)
  2. Make all of your long distance information calls on the 9 Line (Verizon) Dial 9-411
  3. Make all of your local calls on the 9-line.
  4. Pay for all of your personal calls. Payment may be made by check, made payable to West Chester University. Please note on the check, the cost center number to be credited, and forward it to the Bursar's office.
  5. Check your phone bill monthly, and question any phone calls charged to your number that you dispute.
  6. Check the length of the calls you are charged for, and challenge calls that are excessive.
  7. Verify the phone numbers that are being charged to your cost center.

READING YOUR TELEPHONE BILL (CHARGEBACK SYSTEM)

The three summaries that pertain to a cost center's telephone charges are:

  1. Service and Equipment Billing System Overview by Cost Center
    • A) Equipment single phoneline charge $17.50 two line phoneline charge $22.50 three line phoneline charge $23.00 four/six line phoneline charge $25.50
    • B) Service - These are additional charges for vandalism, stolen equipment, and moves, changes or installation of lines and equipment.
    • C) Panet - 8 line charges
    • D) Bell - 9 line charges
  2. Detail Listing of Panet Charges (8 line charges). This is is a listing of the individual telephone calls made on the 8 line.
  3. Detail listing of 9 line charges if appropriate, the individual long distance calls made on the "9" line (Verizon). You are charged $.35 for each directory assistance call made. These are identified on your 9 line summary by the designation (100)(1 directory assistance call) 000-0000, or any multiple of 100 (i.e. 300 "30 calls") 400 <4 calls> in the "To Phone" column.

REQUESTS FOR SERVICES, CHANGES, OR INFORMATION ABOUT THE TELEPHONE SYSTEM

The university's telephone system is administered by the Telecommunications Department. Questions regarding moves, changes, additions, LAN connections etc., and telephone service can be answered by calling x3535. Service can also be requested by sending an E-mail to Lorraine Moyer. Please be sure to include all relevant information i.e...Names and phone numbers of person requesting the work, cost center number and the person(s) having the work done. Also, please describe as completely and specifically as possible the work that needs to be done. To change the cost center to be charged for any extension, both cost center directors must approve the change.

TELEPHONE SERVICES FOR PERSONS WITH A HEARING OR SPEECH DISABILITY

There are FIVE TTY/TDD telephones on campus:

  1. Peoples Building at the Public Safety entrance.
  2. Francis Harvey Green Library on the first floor.
  3. Sturzebecker Lobby (South Campus).
  4. Sykes Ground Floor Elevator Lobby
  5. Schmidt Hall Front Desk

The Pennsylvania Telecommunications Relay Service allows individuals who use TTY/TDD’s to communicate with hearing and speech-capable persons, and vice versa, through the assistance of specially trained Communications Assistants, Communication Assistants are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and can be reached as follows (toll free):
