SAFETY TIPS

Get the scoop on shoveling

Save your back this winter by following these few simple tips:

1) Keep your feet wide apart. Put your weight on your front foot closest to the shovel and use your legs to push the shovel straight ahead.

2) When you pick up snow, shift your weight to your rear foot and keep the load close to your body.  Remember to lift with your arms and legs, NOT YOUR BACK!

3) Turn your feet in the direction that you wish to throw the snow, and pivot your entire body rather than twisting at the waist.
