Position Summary:
Cheyney University of Pennsylvania seeks applicant for the Director of Strategic Communications and Marketing to be part of the Advancement Services unit. This is a hands-on role that will lead the university's integrated brand marketing strategy to advance the reputation of Cheyney University of Pennsylvania, support our national recruitment efforts and support our mission to preserve student access and success. The incumbent is responsible for developing and implementing an integrated strategic communications and marketing plan that communicates a clear and consistent university identity to all internal and external constituencies with the objective of advancing the university toward its strategic vision and mission and communicating the story of Cheyney University of Pennsylvania.

Responsibilities:

• Leads the direction, design, and production of all publications, web properties, social media initiatives, and advertising, to authentically reflect the key brand attributes of the university's identity.
• Oversees our Public and Constituent Relations messages via social media and media relations efforts as it relates to marketing the university.
• Collaborates with Directors, Deans, Department Chairs and Faculty to obtain information needed to market faculty or staff expertise, academic programs and support services of the University.
• Collaborates with campus offices such as Enrollment Management, Intercollegiate Athletics, Alumni Affairs, Faculty, Centers, Institutes and departments to develop and implement a comprehensive branding strategy to attract new students and build institutional reputation.
• Manages all university marketing and communication expenditures effectively across the university.
• Develops performance metrics for each marketing initiative with emphasis on lead responses, brand awareness and perception, and student satisfaction.
• Establishes and chairs the university’s strategic communications committee/council to develop messaging policies for emergency responses and ongoing messaging efforts.
• Provides strategic direction and project management for marketing functions; setting clear direction, and aligning work with university priorities.
• Supervises, trains and orients staff to communicate and message the university mission. Leads university initiatives to train university employees on brand management.
• Designs and implements short-, medium-, and long-term "go to market" strategies and annual marketing plans and budgets that result in sustainable success for each new program launched.
• Selects, manages, and evaluates various vendor contracts to provide marketing, communications, and research services, ensuring consistency in messaging and outcome achievements.
• Maintains a strong connection of professional organizations within higher education and consumer marketing to develop expertise on emerging trends and best practices suited to Cheyney University.
• Identifies strategic partnerships to help fund, co-brand and share the Cheyney University message.
• Other related projects and duties as assigned.


Requirements:
• Master’s degree required in Marketing, Media Communications or a related field, and at least five to seven years of related professional experience.
• Experience in dynamic marketing research and analysis branding and material design is desirable.
• Demonstrated capacity to work collaboratively to envision, design, and implement a successful and comprehensive marketing and communications strategy within an organization with multiple constituencies and complexity characteristic of the university.
