What Hazards Should WCU Be Concerned With
Hazard Mitigation studies for Chester County
over the past 100 years indicate that the most likely cause for
emergencies or disasters in our region will be related to the
weather. Severe weather caused by phenomenon such as a tornado,
a hurricane or an earthquakes are
rare, but they have occurred in our region. Extreme violence and
terrorism on a college campus is also rare, but these are
potential threats that
must be taken seriously and planned for.
High winds, severe lightning, heavy snowfall
and floods are much more likely to occur on our campus along
with the potential for fire. In addition to the campus planning
for emergencies, it is important that the community be aware of
community response plans and that there are measures that all of
us as members of the community can take to reduce the effects of
any emergency or disaster.
