West Chester University offers an exciting and challenging dance program that prepares its students for dance careers in performance, choreography, education and therapy. The dance minor consists of 21 credits and can be selected by students in conjunction with most majors at the university. The dance minor provides opportunities in both concert dance and musical theatre.
A faculty directed University Dance Company (UDC) provide student opportunities in performance, choreography, and arts administration as UDC is run by elected student officers. University Dance Company has two annual concerts: a faculty/guest artist concert in the fall semester, and a student choreographed concert in the spring.
Recent guest artists include Stephanie Beauchamp, Olive Prince, Jodi Aleen Obeid, Michelle Stortz, Reactionaries/Mark O'Maley, and alum Donald C. Shorter Jr, a former Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane company member in NYC.
Many students with a dance minor continue their studies in the field at graduate school, or use their training to teach in a variety of settings from studios to all levels of public/private school, or as professional performers.

The WCU dance minor program strives to prepare its students with the appropriate knowledge, appreciation, and technical skills needed in their chosen profession.
