Bachelor of Arts in Theatre and Dance
The Department of Theatre and Dance offers a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre and Dance program which combines the foundation of a liberal arts education with the creative skills needed by the developing theatre and dance artist.
Degree Requirements:
General Education Requirements: (48 semester hours)
Foreign Language Requirement: (12-15 semester hours)
Core Requirements: (27 semester hours)
DAN 130, THA 103, 104, 105, 113, 116, 301, 306, and 307
Theatre Practice: (8 semester hours) THA 100, 110, and six THA 200
Concentration Requirements: (25 semester hours)
Performance: Acting/Directing
THA 118, 203, 210, 212, 303, 318 and as advised THA 312, 314, and/or 401
Performance: Musical Theatre
THA 131, 203, 221, 303, 319, 321, VOI 181, 182 and
three one-credit private voice lessons, and six credits of DAN courses of your choice
Technical Production
Required: Choice of ART: 106, 11, 112, 206, 306, 307 plus THA 206 and 404
Design: (choose 3) THA 304, 305, 315, 316 Foundation: (7 hours) THA 204, 208, 210, 213, 214, 310, 399, 414, 499 or any courses outside the dept that enrich student's area of focus
Dance
Foundation: (choose 2) DAN 315, 344, 441, 442
Technique: (15 hours as advised. 10 credits from 200 level or above including 4 hours of both modern and ballet.) DAN 132, 133, 134, 135, 210, 232, 233, 234, 235, 332, 333, 334, 335. Performance: (4 hours) DAN 346, 446

Minor in Theatre : (19 semester hours)
Students can minor in theatre by submitting a minor application and completing the following courses:
THA 103 (Acting I) , 104 (Stagecraft), 113 (History of Theatre and Drama I), 200 (Theatre Practicum), 210 (Makeup I), 116 (Costume Construction) or 316 (Costume History and Design), and 301 (Directing I).
Minor in Dance : (21 semester hours)
Students can minor in dance by submitting a minor application and completing the following courses:
DAN 344 (History of Dance)
Two of the following three: DAN 441 (Dance Composition), DAN 442 (Musical Theatre Choreography), or DAN 315 (Dance Pedagogy) Each minor must complete 8 credits of dance technique in any combination of level 2 or level 3 modern, ballet, jazz or tap. Also, 4 credits must be earned for participation in either the Fall or Spring dance concerts.
In addition, each minor will complete either a Teaching assistantship in a level 1 class of their preference, or a Chorerographic assistantship in musical theatre. A Dance Minor notebook will all dance course materials, notes, papers and tests will be handed into the Dance Minor program coordinator the last semester before graduation as a reference point for the Exit interview.
