WCU 2006 Art History Study Abroad:
Venice,
Padua, Florence, Siena, Rome, Tivoli
This summer, students from West Chester University lead by Professors Virginia DaCosta and Heather Sharpe visited Venice, Padua, Florence, Siena, Rome, and Tivoli. Students saw the splendors of Medieval and Renaissance Venice, the remarkable Church of St. Marks with its incredible mosaics covering ceiling and walls. In Florence, students enjoyed art and architecture; Michaelangelo's David and Slaves, Brunelleschi's Dome of the Florence Cathedral, the Medici Chapel, the Brancacci Chapel painted by Masaccio and Masolino, and the Boboli Gardens at the Pitti Palace. Then they were off to Rome for the final four nights with a look at ancient Rome in the Colosseum, Pantheon and the Roman Forum along with Renaissance Rome during our guided visit to the Vatican, St. Peter's Basilica and the Sistine Chapel. |
