The Center for Trans and Queer Advocacy strives to be a catalyst in enhancing the experiences of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, non-binary, queer, questioning, intersex, agender, asexual, and aromantic (LGBTQIA+) students, staff, and faculty at West Chester University and beyond. The mission of the Center for Trans and Queer Advocacy is to create an environment where the intersectional experiences of trans and queer people are celebrated, supported, validated and affirmed.

The Center for Trans and Queer Advocacy is staffed by a full-time senior director, associate director, administrative assistant, part-time graduate assistant and student peer educators. The department provides a variety of programs, events, educational trainings, dialogue opportunities that explore more deeply allyship and advocacy, and multiple components related to Social Justice. We invite all WCU community members to engage in exploration and education around the intersections of gender identity, sexuality, and other social identities as we actively work in solidarity towards a more equitable society. In addition, the department works closely with LGBTQIA+ affiliated student organizations, The Sexuality & Gender Alliance (SAGA), Shades of the Rainbow and T-Time. Additionally, The Center for Trans and Queer Advocacy works closely with the university-wide LGBTQIA+ University Caucus. The mission of the caucus is to raise campus awareness, identify LGBTQIA+ equity concerns, provide education around LGBTQIA+ identities and experiences and build more welcoming and liberatory spaces for trans and queer people on campus and beyond.
