Paraprofessional Quotes

Below you will find some quotes from current paraprofessionals about their positions in the Division of Student Affairs.

Tony Maalouf
Political Science Major, Spanish Minor
Resident Assistant-1 1/2 Years
Desk Assistant-1/2 Year
Graduating in 2006

"These are the friends who support you in life, when all others run away..."

"Being a paraprofessional is to be a leader among fellow leaders..."

My experiences on staff really opened up my eyes to the diversity of life.  There are so many experiences to take from being a paraprofessional and working with your fellow students for a common cause.  It is truly the best way to get an education, not just a degree.

Sara Cochran
Junior Communications Major
Desk Assistant for 2 semesters, Resident Assistant for 1 semester

Being on staff, here at WCU, has opened so many doors for me.  I started as a DA, now I'm an RA, and I will hopefully continue my career with West Chester as an Orientation Leader this summer.  All of these positions are great resume builders, however, I am most grateful for the opportunity to improve my leadership skills.  An ongoing goal of mine is simply to leave a lasting impression on all with whom I come in contact!  There's no better way to meet new people than being part of the WCU paraprofessional staff!

Latoia Winston
Junior Political Science/ Criminal Justice
Resident Assistant for 2yrs

My job in the experience field of being a Resident Assistant has provided me with leadership skills, better listening skills, communication skills as well as prepared me for the future.

Stacy Trinidad
Elementary Education
Rec and Leisure - 4th year
Graduating Dec. 2005

This is my fourth year working for Dr. Gambino. I am currently Vice President of Recreation and Leisure. I will be graduating in December 2005 and will be sad to leave. When I was a first year student I was placed in the Rec office through the work study program. I was nervous at first because I didn't know a lot about sports and I wasn't very athletic. Everyone on staff made me feel very welcome & comfortable. Through working in the Rec office I have developed a love for sports and recreation. My favorite season is intramural basketball season. I love to see everyone get involved. The experiences and friendships that I will be taking away from my involvement in the Rec office are endless. As vice president, I am in charge of the staff and making sure everyone shows up on time. I am an education major, so I see keeping track of the staff like it's my classroom of students. Working in the Rec office has definitely been a huge bonus to my years at West Chester. I couldn't imagine being here without being involved.
