Student
Leadership Development Fund and the Legacy of Leadership
STUDENT LEADERSHIP
DEVELOPMENT FUND
Leadership skills are a key to success regardless
of the career path students choose. Therefore, the development
and refinement of leadership abilities is an important part of
our students’ overall educational experience at West Chester
University. Student leaders work hard to make a difference and
enhance University life. Simultaneously, student leadership
opportunities serve as a “learning lab” as students develop a
package of life-long skills that will benefit them in a variety
of future employment settings.
In 2000, a Student Affairs Endowment Fund was
created as part of the University’s “Campaign for Excellence.”
The fund was developed to provide a special source of revenue
specifically dedicated to developing, expanding, and emphasizing
student leadership programs at WCU. Initial financial support
from former student leaders has been encouraging, and as a
result the fund and our leadership opportunities have grown.
However, there still exists unmet needs, and with your help, we
will continue to expand the leadership training and development
offerings for current and future WCU student leaders.
To support existing and new student leadership
opportunities, the Student Affairs Endowment Fund has been
renamed the Student Leadership Development Fund.
Descriptions and examples of leadership programs are available
here.
Please consider supporting the Student
Leadership Development Fund with a gift or pledge.
Contributions from alumni, parents, and friends of the
University are critical to providing students with leadership
development experiences that will contribute to their success.
Thank you so much for your consideration and please know that
WCU students will be most appreciative of this support as you
leave a “legacy of leadership” for them in years to come!

Legacy of Leadership
The Legacy of Leadership is a recognition of alumni
who demonstrated service to the institution through student
leadership and continue to utilize those leadership skills in
their lives today. A recognition of faculty/staff who
demonstrate a commitment to student leadership through their
volunteer advisement of student organizations and/or have
provided exceptional service and leadership to students.
Each spring the Division of
Student Affairs hosts the Legacy of Leadership fundraising
dinner to honor a group of exceptional alumni and dedicated
faculty and staff.
The 2009 Legacy of Leadership
Dinner information will be available shortly. Check back for details.

These events allow us to cultivate relationships with people who
have been associated with the division as a student, and the
families and friends of these people.
