In all residence halls, students will need their Ram E Card at all times (24 hours a day, 7 days a week) to gain entry to the building through the card access system. The Ram E Card should be swiped through the reader located at the main entrances and the door will release to give the resident access. Residents may also allow those guests who they are willing to accept responsibility for in at the time they enter the building, or must meet guests at the front entrance to give them entry. Guests should register as appropriate at the time they enter. People unknown to the resident should not be allowed entry to the building.
Only those doors with card readers should be used as entry and exit points for the buildings except in cases of emergency. Use of any other doors, including the fire tower or lounge exists, will result in disciplinary and/or criminal action. These doors are to remain locked and secured at all times, are alarmed, and should not be propped open. They are also set up for a delayed egress, which will prohibit someone from leaving the building for 15 seconds after activation unless the fire alarm has been set off.
