Community Awareness Saves Halls (CASH)

For students living in traditional halls, at the beginning of each semester a portion of your housing fee is deposited into a building CASH account. At the South Campus Apartments, a portion of your housing fee is deposited into a collective account for the entire complex. These funds are utilized to pay the cost associated with acts of vandalism in common areas that are not attributable to a specific person(s).

At the end of the academic year, the funds that remain in the accounts are returned to the building or complex to be spent by the residents on building improvements, programs, etc. Therefore, the less vandalism there is in your building or complex, the more money you will have to spend. During past years, CASH funds have been used to purchase pool tables, televisions, microwaves, vacuums, grills, exercise equipment and to support building or complex programs.

As a resident student you are expected to treat University property with care and respect. If either by accident or intent, you damage any furniture or any part of the building, you will be responsible for paying for the necessary repairs. You are encouraged to take an active role and become involved in reporting vandalism and accidental damages to building staff members.
