The Office of Adult Studies supports and serves adults who wish to start their college careers quickly before being formally admitted or who wish to take courses for personal or professional development. Adults begin or return to college for many reasons and may fall into one of the following categories:

  • Nondegree students who qualify may take up to 18 credits without having to apply formally for admission into a degree program. Students who have been out of high school for three years qualify. Recent high school graduates who submit (1) recent high school transcripts showing a GPA of 2.8 or better, (2) SAT scores (minimum 1020 combined English/math), and (3) proof that they were in the top half of their graduating class will also qualify.
  • Post-baccalaureate students may take as many courses as they wish (up to 11 credits per semester).
  • Senior citizens who are 60 years of age, retired, and residents of Pennsylvania may take courses at no charge on a space-available basis.
  • Students from other colleges and universities can take courses here to transfer back (must have a minimum 2.0 GPA and be in good standing with their college/university).
