Healthy Monday: Miss Representation Like drawing back a curtain to let in a bright stream of light, Miss Representation is a film that uncovers a glaring reality we live with every day but fail to see. This movie exposes the media’s misrepresentation of women and girls, which overwhelming show that a woman’s value and power lie in her youth, beauty, and sexuality and not in our intellectual abilities. Incorporating stories from teenage girls and provocative interviews with politicians, journalists, entertainers, activists and academics, this film will leave you shaken and armed with a new perspective. Healthy Monday: Prozac Nation In the movie "Prozac Nation," Christina Ricci stars as real-life author Elizabeth Wurtzel who is granted a scholarship to attend Harvard University. But for Lizzie, with college comes anxiety, depression, and lots of trouble. Join WCU Office of Wellness Education and the WCU Counseling Center for a free viewing of this movie and to discuss how you can help reduce the stigma of mental illness on campus and how you can improve your own mental health. |

Healthy Monday: GYT: Get Yourself Tested Day Did you know that chlamydia is the most widespread STI, there are often no symptoms, and if left untreated, can cause infertility? But hey, good news: testing is super easy with a urine sample, and chlamydia is curable with antibiotics. We are also testing for gonorrhea-which is also curable with antibiotics. Stop by, pee in a cup, and get tested for Chlamydia and gonorrhea. Co-sponsored by the Women’s Center and Office of Wellness Education. |

Take Back the Night is an annual anti-violence event at WCU for women and men. The evening kicks off with a short rally followed by an empowerment march for women. Men who support anti-violence are encouraged to attend a bystander intervention workshop led by other male students. Afterward, there will be a “speak out” in the Women’s Center where people will be able to share their own experiences with violence and support one another. Co-sponsored by the Women’s Center, Office of Wellness Education, and Association for Women’s Empowerment (AWE) |
