| Individual Vocational Counseling |
| Vocational counseling consists of a one-to-one counseling
experience that focuses upon your choice of major and vocation.
Vocational choice is most solid when

| Crisis Intervention |
| The Counseling Center maintains a 24 hour, 7 day/week on-call mental health crisis service
for West Chester University students when classes are in session.
After hours, this service may be accessed by contacting the Campus
Police (436-3311) who will then contact the counselor on call.
During daytime
office hours, students in crisis may call the Counseling Center
at 610-436-2301 to speak with a counselor or walk in for an emergency appointment. |

| Psychiatric Services |
The Counseling Center has two part-time consulting psychiatrists
available to assist in evaluations and follow-up where medication
may be necessary as an adjunct to counseling. This service is available
to students who are in an on-going counseling relationship with a
department psychologist, intern, or practicum student and may not
be accessed independently.
Effective Fall Semester 2008, there will be a ten dollar ($10.00) charge
for every visit with a psychiatrist. There will also be a No Show Fee of ten dollars ($10.00) for students who do not show up for a
scheduled appointment with the counselor or with the psychiatrist..
To avoid this charge, a scheduled appointment must be canceled
with 24 hours' notice. All fees may be paid by Ram Bucks or with a
personal check. We are unable to accept cash or credit cards. Unpaid
fees will result in a "hold" on a student's account. |

| Consultation |
| Counseling Center psychologists are available to consult with staff,
faculty and other members of the University community. Assistance can
be provided with crises, program planning, group and interpersonal
communications, as well as with referrals to other agencies. |
| |
| Outreach |
| Counseling Center psycholgists and psychological trainees often present
workshops or educational programs dealing with a variety of interests
and concerns. Topics
have included coping with stress, communicating more effectively, dealing with
differences, eating disorders, and how to help a troubled student. |

| Alcohol Awareness Education |
| The Student Health and Wellness Center's alcohol awareness
page describes programs and information sources concerning consequences
of alcohol use as well as strategies for avoiding dangerous situations.
This page includes information about Alcoholics Anonymous, and about "E-chug," a
web-based alcohol check-up, which provides personalized information
about alcohol use. |
| |
| Drug and Alcohol Counseling |
A. Michael Blanche, our drug-and-alcohol counselor, can
discuss concerns about use or abuse of alcohol or other substances.
He can provide brief personal screenings, comprehensive evaluations
and ongoing supportive counseling for students struggling to become
sober. Due to demand and limited resources, these services are not for students who have been court-ordered; those students who have been court-ordered to receive assessment/treatment must use resources outside the school.
Fee Structure
Effective July 1, 2009, a No Show Fee of $10 will be assessed if you schedule an appointment in the Counseling Center with any of the providers and then do not show up for the appointment. To avoid this fee, please call to cancel your appointment (giving 24 hours' notice) if you find that your needs have changed or that you cannot make your scheduled time.
A $10 appointment fee is still in effect for all Psychiatric appointments.
There is no charge at this time for counseling appointments with the Psychologists and Doctoral Trainees. |
