Perkins Loan

Federal Perkins LoanWatch Video is a federal program administered by West Chester University. A complete FAFSA must be on file by the University's March 1 priority deadline. The packaging strategy identifies the records of students who meet the March 1st priority deadline and have an EFC* in the range of 0 to 500, thus demonstrating "high need". Due to limited funding not all eligible students will be offered funding and the selection process is automated. The EFC-Expected Family Contribution provided by the Department of Education is part of the equation determining need.

The interest rate on the Perkins loan is 5%. The loan is repaid (principal and interest) commencing nine months after students leave school or drop below half-time, whether or not the program of study is completed. Minimum payments are $40 per month, and the loan must be completely paid off within ten years.

All Federal Perkins loan recipients must complete accept their loan on-line at MYWCU. New recipients must complete an Entrance Counseling Test, Loan Interview Session, Review and Accept their TLID statement on Campus Partners via iPromise. Once all of these requirements have been completed the student may sign the Federal Perkins Master Promissory Note MPN.  The Master Promissory Note can only be signed in the aid office.
