Office Recycling Program

The Office Recycling Program has been adopted by all academic and administrative buildings on the West Chester University campus.

The "THREECYCLE System" is alive and well in the halls of our buildings. The WCU Recycling Department has placed three necessary containers on each of the floors in these areas. The materials collected are: glass, plastic, and food cans, in the square container; aluminum cans in the round container, and mixed office paper in the rectangular container.

Small, blue desk side containers labeled "We Recycle" are supplied to each faculty and staff member for mixed office paper collection. Get in the habit of keeping this container next to your trash bin and slipping all clean, dry paper into it. You’ll be surprised at how quickly it adds up.

Slightly larger containers are also available for placement near a copier machine, where a high volume of paper recycling may be needed. WCU custodial staff empty these containers and place them in a holding area, where they are then removed by the Recycling Staff.

**Special Note:** If your building or office is relocating, please consider cleaning out your files and old records PRIOR to your move. With notification, the Recycling Department can place larger containers in your area to accept a "temporarily" larger situation. To arrange a special pick-up or to request a special container, please call the Recycling Dept. at 436-2512.

 **A NOTE ABOUT CONTAMINATION**

Contamination continues to be a serious problem with our recyclable materials! If food waste and other non-recyclable materials are placed in the recycle containers, the custodians empty it as garbage. Every recycle container has a material identification label. A poster explaining what material is acceptable should also be nearby. Please be mindful and do not throw garbage in the recycling containers. recycling containers. If your container identification labels are NOT clearly visible or are in need of replacement, please inform your "Recycling Captain" or call 436-2512, and they will be replaced.

If you are unsure about an item's acceptability, call Sandra Brown, Recycling Coordinator, at 436-2512 or e-mail SBROWN@WCUPA.EDU.
