Biography
Prof. Weikert (a 2003 graduate of WCU) has been back at West Chester since 2008, serving as an instructor in the Political Science Department and teaching a wide range of courses for the department. In 2000, having just left active duty in the US Army, Prof. Weikert completed undergraduate work at West Chester before commencing graduate study at local universities (Villanova and Temple). His dissertation focuses on the relationship between news coverage of presidential election campaigns and the effects of that coverage on the electorate, and his research agenda includes studies in political communication, political psychology, and public opinion. His secret ambitions are to write an award-winning novel (working title: “Lucky”), play the Old Course at the Royal & Ancient Golf Club at St. Andrews, and guest-host ABC’s World News Tonight.
