The Department of Languages and Cultures offers immersion study for credit in Spanish at all levels in
Sevilla, Spain, Guadalajara, Mexico, and Heredia, Costa Rica.

STUDY ABROAD IN SPAIN

SUMMER STUDY ABROAD IN MEXICO: June 1 - July 17 (6-9 credits for students at all levels) Tuesday, Nov. 24, 3:30 to 4:15 p.m., Main Hall 214. Informational meeting about travel, academic study in English and Spanish courses in numerous disciplines, and extracurricular programming in Guadalajara, Mexico and neighboring states for all levels: beginning, intermediate, advanced Spanish, as well as diverse progamming in English. The Guadalajara Summer Program:
Offered in cooperation with the University of San Diego, the program offers Spanish I-IV,
as well as courses in art, art history, business, communication studies, dance, education,
English, history, Latin, Latin American literature, Latino studies, political science, Spanish,
and music. Lower division and advanced undergraduate courses are offered as well as graduate
level courses; some courses will be taught in English. All courses carry USD academic credit
and residency, and credit for courses transfers directly to West Chester University. Some
knowledge of Spanish is recommended for the program, but not required.
The program will provide support services to assist students with travel, health, financial and
personal needs. It will also arrange lodging with local Spanish families who have experience
hosting American students.

Guadalajara Study Abroad Program
The Seville Abroad Program:
This study abroad option is available through International Universities
Studies in Seville,
Spain (I.U.S.); it is designed to enrich the foreign language experience by providing
high-quality academic, cultural and personal opportunities. The program offers a varied spectrum
of academic courses ranging from beginning to advanced undergraduate and graduate levels, taught
in Spanish by Spanish instructors. Students may register for the fall or spring semester, as
well as for a full academic year. Three-week intensive courses are offered in the summer and
winter. Students may also take courses at the University of Seville. Those with strong
language skills will be placed in classes for American students; those with superior language
skills will attend regular classes with native Spanish students.
I.U.S. will provide support services to assist students with travel, health, financial and
personal needs. It will also arrange lodging with local Spanish families who have experience
hosting American students.

The Costa Rica Program:
Study Spanish in Costa Rica at la Universidad Nacional (UNA), Heredia
during Summer Session I. Price includes tuition
(6 transfer credits for advanced courses in Spanish language, literature or
culture), fees, room and board for five weeks, and one-on-one tutorials with
UNA students three hours per week.
The Costa Rica Summer Study Program at la Universidad Nacional:
La Universidad Nacional (UNA) is located in Heredia approximately 13 miles
north of the capital of San José. El Programa de Estudios Hispánicos
has designed a five week course of study especially for WCU students during
Summer Session I. Courses are taught in Spanish by Costa Rican faculty from
la UNA. Grades are issued by la UNA and transfer directly to WCU toward the
Spanish major, minor or foreign language requirement. Students also participate
in a conversational tutorial program with UNA students for additional conversation
practice. Costa Rican host families are carefully matched with students based
on information submitted on a housing questionnaire. La UNA provides support
services to assist students with health and personal needs. For further information,
