Can the career center affect the job-search success of its students? Results from the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE) 2009 Student Survey show that students who used career center resources intensely were more likely to land a job or get a job offer than others who didn't use or used the career center in a limited way.
As we begin the new school year, the state of the job market is still shaky and uncertain in many industries. Given these challenges, it is more important than ever for students to begin the job search early and to use a variety of strategies and resources to connect with opportunities.
The Twardowski Career Development Center provides a range of services and events to assist students with securing employment, as well as pursuing further education. We want to highlight some key items.
- Register on College Central Network (CCN) to:
- Upload a resume and have it critiqued by a career professional
- Search jobs and internships posted exclusively for WCU students and alumni
- Apply to On-Campus Recruiting jobs (many employers conduct interviews in the fall for May graduates!)
- Utilize the Job Search Resources & Links on the TCDC website: http://www.wcupa.edu/_services/STU.CAR/students/jobsearch.asp
- Details about other job fairs, such as MAEE Education Job Fair in December, will also be available through our office and website.
Career center staff members are available to present resume writing, interviewing preparation, and other professional skill-building workshops to your classes or student groups. Please contact the office at x2501 or submit a Program Request to us online:
