School Nurse Certificate Program

The School Nurse Certification program is a 13 credit post-baccalaureate program which prepares you for initial Pennsylvania Department of Education certification as an Educational Specialist I - School Nurse.

Required Courses

NUR 520 Advanced Physical Assessment (3 credits)

NUR 512 Legal Mandates of the School Nurse (3 credits)

EDA 541 Foundations of Special Education (3 credits)

NUR 502 Perspectives of Community Health Nursing (includes practicum) (4 credits)

Certification Program Requirements

1. BSN degree from a National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC) or Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) accredited program.

2. Current licensure as a registered nurse in Pennsylvania.

3. A cumulative undergraduate GPA of 3.0 on last 48 nursing credits.

4. Completion of the following college-level credits:
3 semester-hour credits of literature, 3 semester-hour credits of English, and 6 semester-hour credits of college level math.
