Dr. Charlotte Mackey has been elected Chairperson of the Department of Nursing effective May 1, 2008. Congratulations to Dr. Mackey!
Dr. Cheryl Monturo has won the 2007 Claire M. Fagin Fellowship from the John A. Hartford Foundation for her research in geriatric nursing. This $120,000 two-year fellowship will investigate end-of-life treatment of veterans. The department sends its congratulations to Cheryl for this outstanding achievement.
The WCU chapter of SNAP (Student Nurses Association of Pennsylvania) has been awarded the Student Organization of the Year AND the Community Service Leadership Award. The department is very proud of its students, and these awards show why WCU Nursing students are the best! Congratulations to all SNAP members for a job well done.
Brent Thompson was appointed chairperson to the National League for Nursing's Educational Technology and Information Management Advisory Council (ETIMAC). The purpose of ETIMAC is to promote the effective use of technology in nursing education, both as a teaching tool and an outcome for student and faculty learning, and to advance the integration of information management into educational practices and program outcomes.
Dr. Christine Thomas was selected to participate in the AACN Faculty Development Project: Enhancing Gerontology in Senior-level Undergraduate Courses on October 3-7, 2007.
