Admission Information

Admissions Process:
Students who are interested in pursuing the Didactic Program in Dietetics at West Chester University should apply to the university and select the undergraduate program/major of Dietetics. The dietetics program is offered through the College of Health Sciences, Department of Health. Students who are granted admission to the university are accepted into the dietetics program.

The West Chester University Office of Admissions processes applications beginning approximately one year prior to when a student indicates planned entry to the university for both first year and transfer students. Students are encouraged to apply early for more options with financial aid, scholarships, course selection, and housing. Accepted students will be invited to orientation programs and to meet with a departmental academic advisor for course registration.

Admissions Requirements:
Incoming freshman students must meet the West Chester University admissions requirements.

The University Admissions Staff determines admission to the University based on academic preparation and ability. In the case of transfer students, admission is based on ability. The Nutrition and Dietetics undergraduate Didactic Program in Dietetics does not have selective admission; however, a 3.0 GPA is desirable for all students. Refer to the University Undergraduate Catalog for other admission requirements to the University and how to declare a major.

Academic Calendar
The Office of the Registrar at West Chester University provides an updated academic calendar (http://www.wcupa.edu/registrar/) for fall, spring, and summer terms. Registration for spring semester courses begins in October each year for continuing students, and registration for summer and fall semester courses begins in March each year for continuing students. Incoming freshman students are invited to summer orientation sessions and complete course registration during orientation.

Educational Costs
A description of costs related to tuition, fees, other expenses, plus residence hall room and board are outlined in the University Undergraduate Catalog. Since costs may vary each year, students should check with the Business Office, Student Services Inc., Sykes Union, (610) 436-2955, for current information related to costs.

If there are additional costs for students, they will be identified in the Undergraduate Master Schedule or the course syllabus. For example, there may be expenses for field trips, additional books, supplies, or liability insurance.

Scholarships, financial aid and College Work-Study Programs are available for undergraduates who qualify. Available scholarships are posted in the Financial Aid Office, as well as, the campus newspaper. The majority of scholarship applications are available at the beginning of each Spring semester. Scholarships also are available from the American Dietetic Association (1-800-877-1600) and other professional associations, including the American School Food Service Association (1-800-877-8822) and National Restaurant Association (1-800-424-5156).
