Overview of Programs
The Department of Communicative Disorders offers three programs. The first leads to a bachelor's (B.A.) degree. The second (Pregraduate Certification Program) is for individuals with a bachelor's degree in another field, and it leads to eligibility for admission to a graduate program in speech- language pathology. The third program leads to a master's degree (M.A.).
1. B.A. IN COMMUNICATIVE DISORDERS
This degree is a pre-professional program that provides students with basic knowledge of human communication and communicative disorders in preparation for graduate study in audiology, speech-language pathology, speech and hearing science, or related health science or communication fields.
2. PRE-GRADUATE CERTIFICATION PROGRAM (PCP)
This program is for students who have a bachelor's degree in a field other than communicative disorders, and who would like to pursue a master's degree in speech-language pathology or audiology.
3. M.A. IN COMMUNICATIVE DISORDERS
This degree provides students with the academic and clinical practicum experiences required for the Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP). Both a thesis and a non-thesis option are offered. The M.A. degree program is fully accredited by the Council on Academic Accreditation (CAA) of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association through 2015. MA Program learning outcomes can be found under KASA.
