Frederick Douglass Statue Monument Project

"WALK FOR FREDERICK DOUGLASS"

  • We are organizing a walk-a-thon to raise funds for the Frederick Douglass Statue Project. The walk-a-thon is scheduled for Friday April 13th 2012 from 3:15pm to 5:15pm. The nearly eight-foot youthful replica of the American icon, Frederick Douglass, will stand tall amidst a garden of reflection and inspiration in the quad next to Philips Building. This special event is designated as “Walk For Frederick Douglass” and “Hands Across The Campus.” We have raised more than 80% of our campaign goal of $200,000.00 for the monument. We need a massive campus drive to reach the finishing line.

  • Professor Richard Blake of the Art Department has been commissioned to create the statue.
