Community Service Activity:  In the St. Agnes Day Room, volunteers can help serve the basic needs of the poor and the homeless in the West Chester area through providing hospitality to the needy.  For instance, volunteers can help serve breakfasts and lunches to individuals in need.  In the Saint Agnes School, volunteers can help throughout the K-8 school, especially in the classrooms.

 

The Salvation Army

Southeastern Pennsylvania Autism Resource Center (SPARC)

SPARC is a nonprofit therapy center that serves both individuals on the autism spectrum as well as children with a variety of behavioral concerns.

Community Service Activities:   Volunteers will join and assist with a Social Skills Group, Peer Buddy Program, Peer Mentoring, and work with Avon Grove School District with children on the autism spectrum.

 

Volunteer English Program in Chester County

The Volunteer English Program (VEP) provides free tutoring for adults to improve their English language skills, their American cultural understanding, and their participation in the communities we share.

West Chester Area Communities That Care

West Chester Area Communities That Care has Beyond the Buzzer Middle-School Afterschool Program through a partnership with West Chester Area School District and the West Chester Area YMCA.  The program promotes positive peer relationships and community involvement by offering recreational activities, community guest speakers, discussion, and homework time for middle school students in the West Chester community.

Community Service Activity: Volunteers will help in any of the 8 classrooms with children aged 6 weeks to 6 years old.   Volunteers will also assist as homework monitors for school-aged children when they come in the afternoon at 4 p.m.

Completed PA Child Care Staff Health Assessment is required beginning fall 2013 semester.

 

West Chester Area Senior Center

Community Service Activity: Volunteers will help serve as one or multiple positions: breakfast volunteer, lunch volunteer, noontime entertainment, and party entertainment.  Breakfast volunteers assist with serving breakfast.  These opportunities are available Monday through Friday from 7:30 am 10am. Lunch volunteers assist with serving lunch from 11:30 am until 1:30 pm Monday through Friday.  Noontime entertainment volunteers share special musical talent with the seniors at the Center during lunch hours, 12pm until 1 pm on Mondays through Fridays.  Lastly, party entertainment volunteers provide entertainment for birthday or holiday parties.
