Learning and Teaching in Context is the motto of Professional Education at West Chester University of Pennsylvania. Our Professional Education programs prepare teacher candidates with the skills and knowledge to enable all children to learn and achieve.
Continuous assessment of programs and achievement of standards by students occur at critical decision points to ensure preparation, utilize strengths, improve performance, and provide quality learning experiences.

Measures of Excellence:
We are proud that teachers and other professionals prepared at West Chester University are counted among the best in the tri-state region.
- For this past year, our 688 program completers' pass rate on the Praxis I Basic Skills Test is 100%, and their aggregate pass rate in the Praxis II content knowledge tests is 94%.
- For each of the last two years, we have prepared more than 720 teachers, qualified about 165 post-baccalaureate candidates for initial certification and granted about 180 master's degrees.
- Our highly qualified faculty members are outstanding and effective instructors who are actively committed to our candidates' performance and to K-12 student learning. The faculty is engaged in scholarship and service to the University, their discipline, and our region's schools.
