The technology classroom was completely rebuilt from the walls out during the summer of 2000. It was equipped with new furnishings and contains a podium controlled switching system that projects video from the a desktop or laptop computer, or, document camera, and controls a sound system. Also, computer images are projected on an interactive (SmartBoard) white board. Mediasite lecture capture is available. The room has 12 Macintosh student workstations, a printer, and a scanner.
The classroom supports full multimedia presentations and has been planned so preservice teachers can emulate the technology activities that are advocated for K12 classrooms. The space is the primary instructional area for all sections of educational technology courses; any instructor in the College of Education also can reserve it when it is not scheduled. The classroom was dedicated to Sam and Claire Stillman in 2001.
The MAC lab has 28 student stations that are Macintosh iMac computers equipped with software applications used in K-12 schools. It has a teacher computer station connected to a LCD projector. All computers are connected to the university LAN and Internet. Scanning and printing are available. MAC lab upgrades in the summer of 2000 provided new data wiring, a new electrical panel, and a clean power supply. The space is an instructional area for all sections of EDM 300 and graduate EDT courses; any instructor in the College of Education also can reserve the when it is not scheduled for classes. There are open lab times available with student lab assistants at times when the lab is not being used for instruction. The computers in the MAC Lab have the following applications on them: Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint, Inspiration, Adobe Acrobat Reader, iLife (iMovie), PhotoShop Elements,Firefox, and Safari.
All classrooms in Recitation Hall are presentation classrooms designed to meet all of the basic multimedia needs. They are equipped with a ceiling hung LCD Projector, Overhead Projector, VCR/DVD Monitor/Projection, and a Projection Screen. They provide the instructor with a supporting audio system and a wall plate with appropriate connections for a laptop. Instructors will be responsible for bringing the needed equipment (e.g., a laptop computer) to connect to the presentation system. Laptops may be borrowed from the professor’s department or the COE Tech Center.
All classrooms (except R 301 and 305), in addition to the Technology Classroom and Lab, are equipped with an interactive (SmartBoard) white board. Training in SmartBoard use are available in the Tech center. A laptop loaded with Smart Board Notebook software is necessary to use the interactive boards.
