Undergraduate Student Experiences
Student Teaching
| During
the single semester of student teaching, students may either
have two separate teaching assignments of approximately
seven weeks each; one in grades K-3 and one in grades 4-6
or one fifteen week experience in a single setting. A weekly
practicum session is held on campus with a university supervisor.
(When
filing
for
student
teaching,
students may
request a geographical area. Areas include rural, suburban,
and urban settings.) |

Co-Curricular Opportunities
A variety of organizations and
activities are available to students in the School of Education.
The Pennsylvania Student Education Association (PSEA) is
a co-curricular club representing every department. For honor
students, a chapter of Kappa Delta Pi (education) and a chapter
of Alpha Upsilon Alpha (reading) are active on campus. In
the area of elementary education, the Department encourages
student membership in the Association of Childhood Education
International (ACEI). Students of color also may join the
Alliance for Minority Pre-service Teachers. In addition to
specific organizations, there is a spirit of helpfulness,
public service, and volunteerism which pervades the activities
of students in education.
