FAQs

BEAR FAIR FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

If I want to collect bears at work or with a group(scouts, church, etc.) what should I do?

Call the Office of Service-Learning and Volunteer Programs and provide us with contact information for your organization. You can collect at your locations, and near the end of the event you can drop your bears off at one of the drop-off locations. Flyers for you to use are available on the website.

When should I drop off teddy bears?

Teddy bears can be dropped off beginning November 1st . The best drop-off locations are West Chester University’s Sykes Student Union lobby, Stadium Grille in West Chester or Eagle, and Wendell August in Exton.

If I want to donate money, what should I do?

Checks can be made payable to “SSI 380”.  That is the Bear Fair account.  You can mail them to our office at: 238 Sykes, West Chester, PA 19383.

Can I donate used teddy bears?

Only new bears can be donated to hospitals. We ask you to please leave the tags on. Please try to encourage donating new stuffed animals only. We can take some “gently used bears” but they must be in excellent condition. That means that they have been on a shelf and not played with.

Does it have to be a teddy bear?

Teddy bears are the preferred stuffed animal, however, we will take cute, cuddly, soft animals.  Stuffed animals that are least 6 inches or larger are preferred.  We do take some beanie babies.
