Service-Learning
is defined as
academic courses that have a service component. Students provide
meaningful service to the community that is directly related to the
course content. Reflection of these experiences is an important
part of true service-learning.
-
Volunteer programs
provide opportunities for individuals, clubs, and organizations to
meet community needs through one-time events as well as on-going
programs.
-
The service-learning
office works with over 100 area agencies
providing a wide range of volunteer experiences.
-
During the 2007-2008 academic year,
WCU students provided
207,075 hours of service, and raised $136,822
for a
wide variety of charities.
