Check In Information

First-year students can check in at their residence hall on Friday, August 22, 2014, according to the schedule (to be posted in August). Returning students can check in at their residence hall on Saturday, August 23, 2014 from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm.

After you have formally checked-in, you'll want to do these things:

  • Move your items to your new room and get settled into your new home. Your Resident Assistant will stop in to introduce themselves and see if you have any questions.
  • Move your car to one of the remote parking lots. Please see the Residence Life staff in your building for directions.
  • Check your room key in all door locks and your mailbox (report problems to Residence Life staff member)
  • Find the laundry room, lounges, your Resident Assistant's room, the hall office, information bulletin boards, and hall bathrooms.
  • Say hello to your new neighbors and good bye to those who helped you move in.
  • Get ready for Orientation and Weeks of Welcome

Assignment Information

Students will receive their assignment information (or confirmation) in an e-mail sent to their WCU e-mail account. This e-mail will provide students with the Hall and Room Number of their new "home away from home," in addition to the name, address and home phone number of your new roommate. We highly recommend you spend some time reviewing the "Roommate Information" section of the Campus Arrival Website and then place a call to your roommate to begin to discuss your upcoming experience sharing a room.

Please note that in the assignment process, we took into consideration your stated preferences and attempted to accommodate you accordingly. If you find that you are unhappy with your assignment, room changes can be requested during the second week of classes. No room changes will be allowed prior to the designated time during the second week of the semester. Information regarding this Open Room Change process will be available at the main desk of each building. If extenuating circumstances necessitate canceling your housing contract, please review section 2 of the housing agreement if you wish to request a release from your housing contract. You can find the Release Request form on our website under Housing Information / Forms & Applications.

Television/Cable Information

Each residence hall room and the living rooms and bedrooms in the apartments have outlets which connect to the University's television distribution system. A basic and standard cable television line-up is provided to all rooms, as per the University's contract with Comcast Communications. No direct billing to students is necessary, as CATV charges are included in student fees.

Students interested in obtaining other services from Comcast, including any Premium channels, Digital Cable, or Cable Modem services, must contract directly with - and be billed monthly by - Comcast Communications. Questions can be addressed to: Residence Life Technology Office at 610-436-2344 or go to www.comcast.com for more information. Any additional services for students will be billed individually by Comcast, but since the basic tier of service is on the WCU account, the Residence Life Technology office can assist you with the information necessary to open a "stacked" account through Comcast Bulk Client Services.
