Student Health Services Mission Statement

In the support of the Mission of West Chester University and its Division of Student Affairs, the Student Health Services strives to reach the optimal level of health for all students so they may freely develop personally and succeed academically. Student Health Services accomplishes this primary mission by providing high quality, prompt, ethical, affordable, accessible primary care medical services.

The Student Health Services further seeks to promote the life-long physical and emotional well-being of our students by providing strong, effective disease prevention, health promotion and educational services.

The Student Health Services serves as the health and medical resource for the university community thereby working to foster a healthy campus environment.

CORE VALUES STATEMENTS

To successfully accomplish its Mission, the Student Health Services is committed to the following:

  • Respect: Treat all individuals with mutual respect, understanding, support, kindness, honesty, sensitivity, and compassion.
  • Diversity: Accept the diversity and thereby varying attributes of the Student Health Services members and client population, recognizing each person as a unique, valuable individual able to contribute to the group and function with common goals.
  • Collaboration: Create and maintain a student oriented healthcare center to promote wellness, treat illness, and support academic learning. The goal is to treat students holistically, as a unique individual. This will be accomplished by collaborative practice between the Student Health Services staff, University and community resources in order to empower students.
  • Education: Create learning environments that will help students make informed health decisions for the development of healthy lifestyles. Recognize that each contact with a student is an opportunity for health promotion. Employees are therefore responsible for maintaining the continuing education necessary to perform this function.
  • Continuous Improvement and Innovation: Seek excellence in service with a commitment to continuous quality improvement. Provide safe, effective, efficient, confidential, responsible, and cost effective care based on Professional standards and a biopsychosocial approach to care. Involve students through the use of a Student Health Advisory Board.
